Vice-Admiral Edward Moore and Deborah Moore Honored as distinguished
Notable African-Americans in Riverside County
Long Beach, CA -- May 10, 2014 -- Vice-Admiral Edward Moore, (USN Retired) and his wife, distinguished educator, Deborah Moore met as college students at Southern Illinois University. What started as a college romance progressed to marriage and later a family. Vice-Admiral Moore (USN Retired) is one of only a few African-Americans to reach flag officer rank in U.S. History. He and his wife have maintained their commitments to sharing their talents with others through the years no matter where they find themselves. Deborah recently wrote: "We have been blessed and privileged to have great platforms from which to mentor i.e. U.S. Navy, various state and private school systems, the church, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc/Silhouettes, and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. The trick to remaining focused and positive is to understand that you can not heal the world, but you can have tremendous impact locally with those who are in your personal sphere." This award is presented only to persons who exemplify "Lifting as we climb." The Moores are commended as exemplars for their contributions of their time, talents, and networks in service to others. Email villageprojects@aol.com for more information.

“Our solutions are bigger than any one profession or job. We must reclaim our interconnections and learn to freely share information with each other, and to support the success of a new generation. We must create connections and collaborations. Our goal must be to move this system in the direction of caring what happens to persons who need it the most, and we must take our place in that effort. We will find a way to make a difference!"
